Music Style: Alternative Rock

Greensboro, NC-based alternative rock band Mightier Than Me makes energetic alternative rock that is fresh yet familiar. Influenced by the sounds of the ‘90s, from Nirvana to Slipknot to Sheryl Crow, Mightier Than Me deals catchy tunes with reckless abandon.

Singer Randy Williams, guitarist Wes Frank Norman, and bassist Robert Seawell met on the first day of class at Guilford Technical Community College. After the school’s Ensemble audition, the three immediately realized they were on the same musical page and started working on music. They approached local talents Charlie Fuson to play drums. After a couple of writing sessions, it was clear that the band had the potential to do great things.

Mightier Than Me is in the process of making their self-titled debut EP, which will hit shelves (physical and digital) on December 2, 2016. Laden with memorable riffs, haunting vocals, and infectious rhythms, it features four original songs engineered, produced, mixed, and mastered by GTCC students and staff. They will host an EP release show at the GTCC Center for the Creative and Performing Arts in High Point on December 2, starting at 7:00pm.

Mightier Than Me has played all over the NC Triad area and has been featured on such multimedia programs as “Record Greensboro,” “Jared & Katie in The Morning” on WKZL radio, and various podcasts and interviews. Propelled by the enthusiasm of the GTCC community and local music fans, and with the support of their upcoming EP, they plan to continue the momentum and make their mark on popular music.

Message from Pleo

HI friends, I hurry to share joyful news! Work on the single “Wave” is complete! The release of the single held on the Polygon Records ( Russia) in May 2016. Single “Wave” by Pleo consists of two tracks and is a kind of hybrid of different states of mind. Whereas the song “Wave” urges not to be afraid of difficulties, catch your wave and stick to it till the end no matter what happens; the rebellious track “Fashion modern days”  depicts bad influence of fashion, money, power and ridiculous rules imposed to people nowadays.
So, I am pleased to present two songs that never were published “Unsafe sex” and “Blues mad”.
Now the single is available for listening and for paid downloading on all the popular musical online platforms. Enjoy your listening!

Band Name: Moscato

Album Name: Rise Above
Website: http://www.numberonemusic.com/moscato
Band Description: We are a 4 to 5 piece band from Mackay , Australia writing and recording original music and and letting the world listen to our various styles of Music.

We originally formed with a sole purpose in mind. What started out as a regular jam session between Jo and Monkey (Adrian) inspired Jo to take the next step and record, not only for herself but with the determination to put together a compilation album of local musicians which would raise awareness for Auto Immune Disorders having all proceeds go to Arthritis QLD.
In the early stages Jo and Erin crossed paths and it was believed a saxophone would compliment the jamming duo. This was the birth of not only “Moscato” but of 3 beautiful friendships that we feel blessed to have.
Within 13 weeks of our 1st rehearsal we completed our 1st of what will be many recordings
These Original songs were placed alongside Original pieces written and performed by some of the most unique and talented musicians Mackay has to offer, all with one goal in mind, to raise awareness with an album title of “Broken Silence”.
As we drove the gruelling 10+hour trip back to our hometown we were in awe of what we had achieved in such a short period. The common travellers question of “Are we there yet?” was replaced by “Wow, did that really just happen? “.
Now knowing what could be accomplished our minds were filled with possibilities and we were eager to work on our next E.P. A decision was made to record in 6 months with Erin relieving Jo of lead vocals whose lungs (due to auto immune disorders) were not strong enough.
Then came Simba (Michael Simmons) the most extraordinary, genuine, warm hearted drummer who went above and beyond, , Simba, thank you so much!!
With each finished EP our confidence and creativity grows, it only seemed fitting that we expand our much loved trio. In October 2014 we met Keiran Shaw who has played in various rock bands throughout his life, it was certain that it was in the stars as his can do/give anything a go/ laid back attitude was much like our own, not to mention his unique style of bass playing complimented what we had already accomplished. In November 2014 we also welcomed Kristen Anderson who would join Erin as lead vocalist. As we work on our next EP the two girls prove unlike any other females as they end each song with a high five working as what we believe is an unstoppable vocal team. With Kristens background being Country and Theatre she really brings something different to the table, and with all our minds combined we feel we are finding our feet as to where our path now leads and we are really excited to record this next EP so we can share it with you all.
We can not guarantee our music is everyones cup of tea, but this is us, this is who we are and this is what we love doing. Whether this disc makes you smile, want to relax, want to dance or take a step back to notice what is going on in the world even for a second then it has all been more than worth it,, and even if it doesn’t have this effect … we will just keep on recording and releasing because it’s what we love.
This is us, we are “Moscato” and we thank you from the very bottom of our heart for allowing us to share with you our music.
We hope you enjoy it!!
Peace and Love, Moscato
Erin, Jo,Monkey, Keiran and Kristen

Tent Show Troubadours

Band Name: Tent Show Troubadours
Album Name: Original Music in a Variety of Flavors
Website: www.tentshowtroubadours.com
Band Description: Tent Show Troubadours pick up where The New Baldones left off. Bob Hoot (guitar, vocals) and Doug McLeod (bass) are still the foundation for the group and have added drummer Chris DiBernardo and vocalist Jenniper Hylbert to the lineup.

In October 2007, Bob Hoot and Doug McLeod met on the sidelines of their sons’ youth football team. They started talking about music and figured out that they had each played in bands in high school and college days. After several informal jam sessions, Bob contacted a friend and former co-worker, Dave McGuire, who played drums. And thus the core of the Baldones was formed. Upon a search of bands and names … they became The New Baldones. The New Baldones was formed with the core of Bob Hoot (guitar/vocals), Doug McLeod (bass/vocals) and Dave McGuire (drums).

They were joined by guest guartists and a horn player. The New Baldones were accompanied by guest vocalist Pam Stampen and guitarist Dave Boyd on their first album release entitled Lives Collide. In the summer of 2012, these veteran musicians recorded 11 songs written by Hoot at Blast House Studios in Madison, Wis. “The band was able to get all the tracks laid down in a very short amount of time because we had rehearsed and played these songs a lot before we entered the studio. That is except for one track that we had only played a couple of times and never altogether as a band,” said Hoot. “In the end, we self-produced this album. But I have to give credit to our engineer, Landon Arkens for giving us his objective ears and technical skill to help create the sound we wanted.” June 2013 — The New Baldones welcomed Harvey Briggs to its ranks. No determination has been made about the status of his follicles, but his musical contribution was undeniable. Harvey has been playing guitar and singing ever since he noticed girls at age 13. He has played in various clubs from Detroit to Nashville, Madison and Baudette, Minnesota. In addition to rock and blues covers, Harvey has written songs about the human condition, lost love and deceased celebrities. October 2013 — The New Baldones returned to Blast House Studios and recorded a 12-song album entitled Ornate Fiction. The lineup included veteran Baldones Bob Hoot, Doug McLeod and Dave McGuire with the welcome addition of Harvey Briggs. The New Baldones continued to evolve and refine their sound. “On these cuts, we tried to make them tight without a lot of bells and whistles. We want to capture the best of our live sound,” said Hoot. “Once again, Landon Arkens helped us get the most out of the songs and our performances.” August 2014 — Veteran drummer Dave McGuire left The New Baldones to concentrate on his primary band (The Roadhouse Drifters). His steady and imaginative contribution is missed. Spring 2015 — The New Baldones returned to the studio in March and April 2015 and recorded 12 new songs. The album entitled The Last Bookstore which features The New Baldones with drummer, Matt Barnidge (drums) and a guest appearances by Jimmie Nahas (drums), Isabel Bernauer (backup vocals), Bruce Geiger (backup vocals) and Mike Massey (keyboards). The New Baldones lament the departure of Harvey Briggs from the band, but the demands of work and family always come first. Harvey is now TNB emeritus and is always welcome to sit in with the next iteration of the band — Tent Show Troubadours. January 2016 — The Tent Show Troubadours released a 14-song album entitled Tent Show Troubadours — Original Music in a Variety of Flavors. The album remixes and remasters songs from the three albums recorded when they were The New Baldones. Tent Show Troubadours have added new players to the band. Drummer Chris DiBernardo and vocalist Jenniper Hylbert fill out the lineup of Tent Show Troubadours. February 2016 — Tent Show Troubadours pick up where The New Baldones left off. Bob Hoot (guitar, vocals) and Doug McLeod (bass) are still the foundation for the group, but it was time for a change. Over the seven years of The New Baldones, band members have come and gone. With the departure of Harvey Briggs (guitar, vocals), it seemed like the right time to hit the reset button. Tent Show Troubadours still performs songs from the three Baldones albums. April 2016 — Tent Show Troubadours release 12 new songs on their latest album titled Tangles Ways.

Dave Pannozzo

When you hear music from the heart it resonates on a different level. Davide Pannozzo has been described by critics as one of the most interesting artist’s of contemporary Blues guitar. His style is very much his own with splashes of Jeff Beck, David Gilmour, Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix.

“There are very few artists these days that can inspire and are filled with inspiration and great ideas, Davide Pannozzo is one of them. When you first hear his music you know there is something special going on…” Will Lee (Late Show with David Letterman, The Brecker Brothers, 24th Street Band, …)
Having studied Classical Guitar since the age of six, Davide went on to graduate from the Conservatory of Santa Cecilia in Rome.
During his career he has performed at a number of clubs and festivals in Italy (Pistoia Blues, Ameno Blues, Blues in Town, Accadia Blues, …) and abroad (The Bitter End in NYC, Bass Player in Los Angeles, IBC in Memphis, Ronnie Scott’s in London, Fete de la Musique in Paris,International Jazz Fest in Bucharest, Taubertal Festival in Frankfurt, …) and has played alongside artists such as George Benson, Steve Jordan, Will Lee, David Garfield, Clifford Carter, Phil Palmer and Mark Mondesir to name just a few.
Davide won the Emergenza European Acoustic Festival as Acoustic Solo Guitarist in 2009, followed by the Groove Master Award for Best Italian Blues guitarist in 2010, and most recently the Highland Uproarcompetition where he received hundreds of votes from listeners of the station in Scotland.
He has collaborated with Maestro Pippo Caruso on the TV show “Domenica IN”, with Oscar-winning Maestro Luis Bacalov on “Mediterranean Harbor” produced by Walt Disney and with the masters Franco Piersanti andNicola Piovani.
His album Born Electric was released by EmArcy/Universal Music featuring very special guests: Robben Ford, Carl Verheyen and David Garfield.
His latest album “A Portrait of Jimi Hendrix” features off the floor recordings – with no overdubs – of young Italian blues guitarist and singer Davide Pannozzo performing with Lello Somma on bass and younger brother, Simone Pannozzo on drums. The album was originally recorded on analog tape and digitally released on November 27, which would have been Hendrix’s 72nd birthday. It gets #1 on iTunes top100 Blues Album in Italy and iTunes top100 New Blues Release in USA.

Mare Crisium

After playing together off and on since 1998, in 2010 Matt McGuirk and Kevin Tulppo decided to hit the road as a two-piece instrumental band. After over a year playing a bunch of shows with punk and metal
bands in Michigan towns like Ypsilanti, Ann Arbor, Saginaw, and Lansing, they decided that it was time to find a bass player and a vocalist.

Vocalist Trish Kane joined the band in early 2012, bringing a versatility, intensity, and dynamic presence that has proved to be a perfect fit for Mare Crisium.

Mare Crisium has yet to find a human bass player. (But that’s OK. They make machines for that now.)

“Mare Crisium the Sea of Crises isn’t only a lunar volcanic basin, it’s a band from Ypsilanti, Michigan. This band was on a mission to tear up the Ink Addict stage. Mare Crisium plays music which blends and defies genres. If I had to put a name to some of the sounds I heard, then I’d say Deftones, Tool, Corrosion of Conformity, and Ministry. There is no shortage of energy on stage. Definitely give this band a listen if you want to expand your horizons and try something out of the ordinary.” – Chuck Marshall, National Rock Review

MARE CRISIUM is a progressive and AGGRESSIVE three piece from Ypsilanti, Michigan. I caught their set in Toledo, Ohio Saturday night at the newly re-opened Long Horn Saloon. What I saw was a very tightly woven trio with some of the craziest timing I’ve witnessed live (and I’ve seen RUSH numerous times). Trish Kane is out front with growling vocals and never ending energy, while Kevin Tulppo is the kilt wearing guitar thrasher to her right and Matt McGuirk is the “Mad Scientist” to the rear of the stage throwing down some impossibly intricate percussion.
Good stuff, give’m an ear and go to a show. While you’re at it, buy some merch, like their album “Alien”. Support the Scene. – Jeremy Schindorff, NWO Metal Militia

One Man Rock Band is an American hard rock band formed in Whittier California in 2010. It was founded by drummer, guitarist, bassist, vocalist, Scott Gerling (48) as a one-man project. Inspired by the likes of AC/DC, Aerosmith, Metallica, UFO,  and Foo Fighters.

Prior to the 2015 release of One Man Rock Band’s debut EP “Power X,” The band released two videos, “Highway Star,” (over 60 thousand hits) a cover song by Deep Purple, and an original song written about the death of Osama bin Laden called “We Shall Never Surrender,” (Over 30 thousand hits). Highway Star was well received by the fans (as well as fans of Deep Purple) as it is a technically difficult song to play, and equally difficult to perform. Alternatively, We Will Never Surrender has been heavily criticized (and praised) for for the lyrical content that contains a good amount of jingoism.
Currently, the band is rocking “King Kong!” The single off of Power X.

Band Name: Mouselion
Album Name: Mousetracks
Music Style: indie rock / electronic rock/ low-fi
Band Description

Mouselion is primarily the work of Eli Zeltzer himself. Having written, produced, and recorded the Mousetracks EP, he realized his passion for song writing outside of live performances with bands. Being able to input life experience and creating a song on his own from front to back is something that helped him complete the EP.
With the release of the Mousetracks EP, Mouselion brings an alternative edge to indie rock. Lush with layered guitar sections, addicting melody, and a certain lo-fi aesthetic, the EP creates a certain dream like ambience that sticks throughout the record. Strong pop elemtns like hooks and a fresh mix of electronic and natural instrumentation gives the the songs their own life and songs build and breathe as they play on. Most importantly, the EP never loses sight of the emotional platform great songs are built from.
The first single “Child’s Play”,  is an up beat, indie pop track with a Radiohead, Modest Mouse influence that comes through. Laced with fun rhythms, and guitar lines that hook you in and keep you there, the track reaches an experimental soundscape that proves to be catchy in its own rights.
“I originally wrote Child’s Play about a year ago, which was before I started putting music on bandcamp. The first recording of Child’s Play is relatively elementary compared to the version on Mousetracks, so up until recently it’s always felt like the prologue to mouselion. That’s why reinventing the song after a year of progress and several albums as mouselion has been so rewarding- I can see a tangible difference between then and now. In terms of the actual song, I recently realized that Child’s Play is one of the few songs I’ve written that contains so much childhood nostalgia. To me, something about the song embodies the feeling of being young.” explains songwriter Eli Zeltzer of his single.
Although the single speaks volumes for the EP , to get the full understanding of where Mouselion is coming from, it should be listened to in its entirety. Each song is diverse in its own right, however there is a glue that holds them all together almost like a concept album.
“Mousetracks certainly marks a major change in my evolution as a musician. Coming from a background of solely listening to Classic Rock, my standards for music used to be relatively strict. I think my recent exploration of jazz and electronic music has helped to sort of break down those barriers. I’m now able to see music as a collection of textured sounds as opposed to the standard view of music as requiring defined melody, rhythm, and harmony.” says Eli about the EP and evolution in his songwriting process.
Mouselion is primarily the work of Eli Zeltzer himself. Having written, produced, and recorded the Mousetracks EP, he realized his passion for song writing outside of live performances with bands. Being able to input life experience and creating a song on his own from front to back is something that helped him complete the EP.
As Eli puts it himself, “As someone creating music I’ve always sought to utilize it as a form of self-preservation and exploration. I end up learning a lot about myself in the process of exploring sounds and song structure. But perhaps more important is my desire to make music that’s relatable. In my personal life I value my connection with others above all else. I genuinely believe that humans seek out relationships because they provide a type of comfort that’s otherwise inaccessible. For me, music has been a direct link to other people’s thoughts and emotions, and that connection is invaluable. Above all else, I want people to feel comfortable listening to my music, not because it’s calming or peaceful, but because it makes them feel human.”
