Country:United States

Band Description: Ever since The C.R.Ecker Band first launched “like a rocket” in 2011,it has accumulated 21 awards for its “country often with a touch of lush,” a unique, varied sound conceived by L.A. Music Awards “Career Country Songwriter” winner Charles Ecker.

Bio: When Charles Ecker set out to form The C.R. Ecker Band in the Summer of 2011, his goal was to move his music from Traditional Country on to a new sound, which evolved within two years into “Heartland Country.”

Reaction was instant to his new kind of music, with Buck McCoy of Independent Music Network telling his audience, when the group was named IMN Country Band of the Year, that Ecker had “shot up like a rocket” with his groups style and substance.

He said that when Charlie and Company were named Country Band of the Year at IMN, the same time The C.R. Ecker Band was accorded the same honor at Starliner’s Europe.

Michael Stanton

So now, one of the newest members of The Recording Academy, fresh off his L.A. Music Awards “Career Country Songwriter” honor spanning the 25–year history of that organization, Ecker pushes the envelope even further, in this case with co-writer Michael Stanton (and lead singer) on hard-edges country-rocker “Duty Country Honor” for a tribute to all who love freedom and the men and women who defend it.

The key line: “Kick Up the Good, Knock Down the Bad.”

With “Emma-Jean,’ because while on the surface you might think it is a “Modern Country” song like so many heard on the radio these days, it is very different. Written by Ecker, it is a unique, real-time marraige proposal, complete with repeated “millenial whoops” first launching the song. And listen behind Mike Lusk’s vocal lead, and you will hear a breezy rock underlay from the Jackson Browne playbook. Even a George Harrison-style riff!

“You’re the Reason” is another Ecker-Stanton co-write. It is all about enduring love, heavy on the Dobro, with a key phrase, about how things that once were touched turned to gold, and years later, “now we are just touching stone.” Still the love continues.

Lastly, “Our Good Ole’ Days” is an Ecker composition. In this case, he had to think hard about how a woman would reflect on a long lost lover never to be reclaimed. This tender and touching soft love ballad was perfomed by a regular contributor to The C.R. Ecker Band, Amber Rose.

“Duty Country Honor” by The C.R. Ecker Band, Takes Summer Center Stage

Patriotic country-rocker for freedom lovers and its defenders

This up-tempo anthem, from Charles Ecker and Michael Stanton of Los Angeles, is one of only a few Patriotic songs to come out of the Country Music genre since 9-11, and its message in support of all nation’s willing to uphold freedom here and abroad is clear, with the key line, “Kick Up the Good, Knock Down the Bad,” anchoring the song.

Based on Ecker’s four year service in the U.S. Air Force and ten-year volunteer commitment to Team Coast Guard as a Flotilla Commander assigned to shore patrols off LAX, the song celebrates not just America, which is never mentioned in the song, but all Allied forces.

“Duty Country Honor” was co-written by Michael Stanton, who also sang lead. The latter, formerly head of The Ladies’ Night Band, donated 78,000 copies of his rock album, “Ladies’ Night” to troops here and abroad through the Soldiers Angels charity organization.

The C.R. Ecker Band was formed in 2011 and since then, has won 21 achievement awards, including “Best Song” at The Los Angeles Music Awards, Hollywood Music in Media Awards and Starliner’s Europe. In November, 2016, Ecker received LAMA’s “Career Country Songwriter” Award which spanned the 25-year history of the organization and was inducted into The Recording Academy two short weeks later.

Celebrating 10 years since the first demo, “Anniversary Editions” of the first two studio albums “Songs of Slumber” and “Memoirs of a Shattered Mind” are also out this August, followed by a compilation album in 2018.

Composing, recording and working on the releases took more than 3 years. Mixing and mastering was done by Jeffro Lackscheide (US). The EP is published by Inverse Records.

Artist Bio

Experimental, atmospheric, melodic. Although many death/doom metal elements are present in most songs, it would be difficult to categorize Fractured Spine strictly in that genre.

Starting out as a one man instrumental project, few songs were released to the public until 2012, with one notable exception being the very limited edition demo “Frost” in 2008. The band still draws its main influences from outside the metal genre.

The line-up consists of two core members Antti (instruments, vocals) and Timo (vocals), with occasional visits from session musicians and guest vocalists.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Debut Album from Mike Thompson features music industry heavyweights.

May 20, 2015 (Panama City, Florida, USA)

The debut album by singer-songwriter Mike Thompson, “Out of My Head”, was officially released on May 20th. The eleven tracks are powered by Thompson’s heart-felt lyrics, layered melodies, and driving rhythms.

This indie-rocker has some big name collaborators on this effort. Half of the tracks feature lead guitar and additional vocals of Mark Slaughter (Slaughter, Alice Cooper), as recorded by the legendary engineer Michael Wagener (Dokken, Metallica, Queen, and many more) in his Nashville Wire World Studio. Country star Collin Raye makes a special guest vocalist appearance on a high-energy cover of the Jay Ferguson classic “Thunder Island”. JJ Crews produced and recorded the album, and Eric Conn of Independent Mastering, whose clients range from Ted Nugent to Garth Brooks, mastered the project.

Thompson says of the album, “Like all good music, the tracks all have stories of their own. While I never intended it, there are themes of compassion and caring, nostalgia, love found, and friends lost woven all through the album. It is where I am in my life. Dealing with the loss of family members and friends, the joy and hardships of raising kids, and the bitter-sweetness of looking back on a life lived. Not every part of every song on there is about my life, but if you listen to it enough times, you will know a lot about me.”

Out of My Head tack listing:

1) The River

2) Radio Cosmos

3) The One

4) Little Dreamer

5) Jaded

6) Baggage

7) Homestead

8) Hype

9) Thunder Island

10) Can’t Be in Love

11) Memories of you

Artist Bio

On song writing

My approach to creating music is very straightforward and honest. I get an idea for a hook, a melody, a phrase. I kick it around for a while and see where it goes. Does it feel right? Is there some experience in my life that I can tie to it? Is there something to make it be meaningful, moving, or even funny? If it resonates with me, it grows and takes on a life of its own. All that is left is trying to capture the thought so that it can be communicated to others. Rik Emmet wrote that music is “…not just a game of notes, it’s the sounds inside your soul.” I couldn’t agree with him more.

On the new album

I am thrilled at, and fiercely proud of, how well the new album came out. Some of those songs have been bouncing around my head for decades. It’s been a fantastic experience working with the amazingly talented people that came together for this effort. The tracks all have stories of their own. While never intended, there are themes of compassion and caring, nostalgia, love found, and friends lost woven all through the album. It is where I am in my life. Dealing with the loss of family members and friends, the joy and hardships of raising kids, and the bitter-?sweetness of looking back on a life lived. Not every part of every song on there is about my life, but if you listen to it enough times, you will know a lot about me.

On working with music industry heavy-weights

I was very lucky to have had the opportunity to work with several big names in music. My producer, JJ Crews, arranged for a local session guitarist to lay down the lead tracks for the entire CD. Before that could happen, he was killed in a horrible accident. Needless to say, we were all shaken. Once we got past the human tragedy, we had to find a replacement. JJ told me he would check with some of someone he had worked with in Nashville to find a session player up there. It turns out the “someone” was engineer Michael Wagener, whose credits include work with Dokken, Metallica, Alice Cooper, Queen, and on and on. He made a few calls, and I get asked if I would like to work with Mark Slaughter (Slaughter, Alice Cooper)? I jumped all over that offer! We sent up a few tracks for him to listed to and chew on. After a few weeks, JJ and I flew up to Nashville to work in Wagener’s Wire World Studio. Mark was great to work with. He brought in ideas and angles that really brought the tunes to life. All of which were recorded with Michael Wagener’s signature guitar sounds. Amazing!

Country star Collin Raye has been a friend of the family for the last 5 or 6 years. He has done several shows for varies charities we support. I let him know I was working on an album of my own and joked that he should come sing on it. He said he would love to and I thought that would be the end of that. A few months later I’m chatting with him and he brings it up again. He was good as his word! So, we made the arrangements, he flew down to Panama City to record at JJ Crews’ Boogie Tracks Studio. We decided to do a cover of one of a fun song from Jay Ferguson called Thunder Island. To say that I was a little nervous to be singing on the same song with a guy that has sixteen number one hits is a bit of an understatement! Collin is a heck of a guy and a real pro. He took all the tension out of the room and it was a fun evening of music. He is a closet rocker, and really had it going on in the vocal booth.

While the average music lover might not have ever heard of Eric Conn, the client list of his Independent Mastering service in Nashville ranges from Ted Nugent to Garth Brooks. His final treatment of the tracks was spot on and makes them really explode out of your stereo.

About Mike Thompson

I was born and raised on the beautiful Gulf Coast of Florida. My travels have taken me literally around the world, but I always seem to follow my wondering feet back home. I love the slow pace, friendly people, and the connection with nature that you get here.

I’ve played in lots of bands, from jazz, to country, to modern rock. When I wasn’t being too hard-?headed to pay attention, I learned a lot from all the great musicians and friends that I have had the pleasure to work with. I try to pour all of those lessons and a little bit of myself into everything I do now.

I like to read. I make things. I take pictures. I try to be a good friend, a good husband, and a good father. I like how a great song makes you feel. I love the energy of a concert.

Christopher Hawley

Band Name: Christopher Hawley

Album Name: STORIES

Year Released: 2017

Website: https://www.christopherhawley.net

Music Style: Rock

Influences: Jack Johnson

Label Affiliation: Independent Label Geographic

Hometown: Venice Beach

Country:USA

Band Description: Christopher Hawley, a devoted surfer, guitarist, and singer-songwriter, is a Venice musician through and through. His new album STORIES reads like a series of miniature character studies, washed in California Roots Pop. Out now on Wilodean Records.

Artist Biography
Venice Beach is famous for the performers who grace the boardwalk, the stoners and street characters who hang on the beach, and the surf culture that spawned a whole California sound. Christopher Hawley, a devoted surfer, guitarist, and singer-songwriter, is a Venice musician through and through. His new album Stories reads like a series of miniature character studies, washed in California Roots Pop.

After studying classical guitar as a child and playing in the jazz band in high school, Hawley co-founded Mucis, a Colorado jam band whose members signed to a label and toured nationally in a retrofitted school bus. He could never get enough of being on the road performing original music, so when the band broke up, Hawley became a solo roots rock singer-songwriter and forged on in Los Angeles.

As a solo artist and with an expansive collective known as The Christopher Hawley Rollers, he has had music licensed for Fox’s “The Good Guys,” NFL’s “NFL A.M.,” and several independent films. The band was featured in an H&R Block commercial playing two of Hawley’s songs. Over the years, he has played everywhere from LA’s Greek Theatre to yoga retreats in Bali and dive bars in ski and surf towns.

Hawley is a devoted yogi, with a steady practice that influences the way he lives his life. “My yoga practice has inspired me to be more conscious about what I consume and how I consume it. The idea is to put an increasingly smaller footprint on the planet.”

His dedication to surfing echoes a similar sentiment. He learned to surf while with a girlfriend in Hawaii, and that experience was part of the impetus for his move from Colorado to California. “Surfing, like yoga, is a great meditational workout,” says Hawley. “It’s a full-body experience in the ocean…. You’re trying to tune in to the waves and, ultimately, become one with Mother Nature. Both activities force you to practice being present, just like when you’re playing music.”

A few years back, Hawley’s friend, Randy Wooten, offered to produce a few tracks in exchange for surf lessons for his girlfriend’s son. Hawley and Wooten began writing together on a regular basis. Their prolific partnership produced a long list of songs. One song, “Sidewalks and Bars,” was conceptualized during one of those surf lessons.

What began as a casual collaboration between two friends in Venice soon became a full-length album.

“The approach was collaborative, from the songwriting all the way through the recording process,” Hawley says, “It felt like a weight was lifted off my shoulders with Randy in the producer’s chair: In the past, I’d done almost everything myself, so to be able to show up focused on the music was liberating.”

Hawley is spreading his wings in a way he never has before. The album is beautifully produced: Wooten did his job well, taking a roots rock palate and adding memorable touches like barrelhouse piano, reverb-soaked guitar, and even modern synth sounds. Hawley’s up-front vocals lend the songs a remarkable sense of intimacy.

However, it’s the collaboration between the two songwriters that makes Stories shine. The songs are smart and compelling, and there’s a depth to the tales they tell that makes you want to listen more closely.
